FREQUENTLY-ASKED QUESTIONS

What should I expect my first time indoor cycling?
Expect to feel exhilarated! Maxfit welcomes riders of any level. The challenge is up to you. You adjust your own resistance during the ride and determine how fast to pedal. An instructor is always available to help you properly adjust the seat & handle bars for a great ride. You will look forward to your second ride even more knowing how it feels when you are done. The best part being a beginner is that you can't get left in the back of the pack.

What should I bring/wear to my first class?
Don't wear baggy sweat pants. Bike shorts or exercise clothing is best. Bring water, or buy it here. Sneakers are fine, but once you become more familiar with indoor cycling, you may want to look into bike shoes. You should arrive 15 minutes prior to your first class to learn the set up on the bike.

How many calories will I burn?
That all depends on your fitness level and how hard you challenge yourself. A heart monitor is a great way of gauging how many calories you burned. The average indoor cyclist can burn between 400 and 900 calories in a single class!

Do you have showers? Towels? Sell water?
Yes, Maxfit is located in Oxygen Fitness Club, where there are showers, lockers, changing rooms and towel service. Forget your water bottle, don't worry, you can purchase water at Maxfit, or use the water fountain to fill up your water bottle.

Can I use the equipment in the fitness area also?
There are Day Passes for sale or memberships can be purchased from Oxygen Fitness Club, our classes do not include use of the gym.

What type of bikes does Maxfit have?
The bikes are 42 STAR TRAC SPINNER Pro bikes. The pedals have Shimano SPD compatible cleats.

Will I get bulky legs?
Expect to see your legs get toned and sculpted. Indoor cycling uses resistance, not weights, so you will not build bulk.

Any tips for a sore bottom?
As with most types of exercise, you have to get used to the equipment. By sitting further back in seat can relieve the pressure on your "sitting bones", but the more you ride, the more you will be accustomed to the seat. You can also wear padded bike shorts, and Maxfit does provide gel seat cushions if you need them.
